Career Orientation-On The Job Training

One month left for our OJT experience! This is a service brought by our guidance counselor Ma'am Jheng. It is to guide us for our career in the future and for our internship. This is a talk from Ma'am Jheng our Career Advancement counselor and from Ma'am Magbata our practicum adviser. This was held at Med Audi 8-12 nn.

First, Ma'am Jheng told us about the different ways of writing a resume or CV that would catch the attention of the HR staff. She also told us some tips to ace the interview. This is not just internship but take this seriously. Companies would actually look where you had your ojt experience.

Second, Ma'am Magbata told us about Practicum Guidelines. What are the things we need to follow and requirements for OJT. It's kind of stressful because there are lots of requirements and instructions to follow. Gotta face this!

For now, I have been constantly submitting my resumes to different companies. I have already submitted my resume to Smart Communication and Universal Robina Corporation. I am just waiting for the interview. Goodluck to me and may I find a job that would help me grow and develop for future endeavor.

CHANGE: The Vice Presidential Debate

This coming May 9, 2016 is the National Election for our next government. Are you ready now to take step to a better government? The presidential and vice-presidential candidates are making their way to capture and get the sympathy of the voters. Who would you choose? I am glad that this is going to be my first time to vote. I see aspiring candidate for president and vice president that made take part of this National Election. Now that I am a registered voter, I should and must be aware of the issues of our government now. Unlike before I have no idea, what's going on like I don't care who will be next in line in the government. As we grow older, we are awakened because of the happenings in our country. This is now the time that we need CHANGE, not just for ourselves but also for the betterment of the country.

Let me share to you my experience and sentiments as well as I had my first experience attending a Vice Presidential Debate. I attended this debate not because of the incentives by our OR professor but I grabbed this opportunity to get to know well our aspiring vice president. How were I able to get this opportunity? I was able to sign up for the limited slots inside the Q. Pav. It's a first come, first serve basis. After I signed up on Google Docs, there were instructions given to us. Okay so that day we arrived earlier than the said time (just to make sure that we'll be accommodated) We went to Main Building to get our tyvek (it is identification for the said event) Since we arrived there earlier, that is the only time for their preparations. Good thing for Office of the Student Affairs volunteers they were able to managed the attendees well. We went to Q. Pav 15 minutes before 3PM. The place is surrounded by high authorities. There were supporters everywhere and even outside the gates of UST. It was organized well because of the sign and symbols (banners and tarpaulins) that will lead inside. There were gates for "Supporters", "Students Yellow tyvek", Students Red Tyvek", "Faculty and Administrative" you won't get lost. I think "red tyvek" and "yellow tyvek" identifies the place you are sitted, We were at the 2nd floor located. It's not bad because you'll still see the candidates from a far. The ambiance of the place is spacious and can accommodate everyone in the place.

The proper debate started at exactly 5PM. The hosts were Pia Hontiveros and Pinky Web from CNN Philippines. They've started introducing our Vice-Presidential candidates from Antonio Trillanes, Leni Robredo, Bong Bong Marcos, Gringo Honasan, Chiz Escudero and Alan Cayetano. They have lots of supporters inside clamoring for each candidates. They were asked several questions and they were able to answer it but of course you to weigh their answers. The candidates was able to clarify some issues at some point. I was appalled by this incident happened when the anti-Marcos protested in front of us. The moment Marcos stated his points on some issues the protesters barge in the front of the steel and they were shouting "NO TO MARCOS" I can't clearly hear what they were clamoring at. The authorities were stopping them letting them out of the vicinity. It was my first time to see live protesters. The debate lasted  for 4 hours because of the statements/answers of each candidates.

I am really fortunate for this opportunity. I was able to know the sentiments of each candidates and characters as well. For Cayetano, I got frustrated because he keeps on pin points issues to Marcos which in fact it wasn't Marcos' fault at all. For Escudero, he's beating around the bush when answering questions, For Honasan, he remained calm at ease all throughout the debate. For Marcos, he was able to defend himself from the issues Cayetano is pointing out. For Robredo, his sincerity and dedication in serving the country was put up the debate. For Trillanes, the answers were somehow on point. The decisions is in our hands. We want a leader who knows how to handle our government.

BONG BONG MARCOS FOR VICE PRESIDENT

Pug Pog Resort in Pulilan, Bulacan

Heat is everywhere in the Philippines! I just don't feel like going out anymore because of Mr. Sun. Everytime I went out for school I can really feel the sweat all over my body. The body heat index that we are experiencing everyday is harmful for us. That is why we are advised to drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday and as much as possible freshen up yourself to cover up the heat on your body. Despite of we are bombarded with loads of school work, I still managed to unwind and free my mind for some time. For that, I and my family went for a swimming somewhere in Pulilan, Bulacan.

Swimming finally! Even though it's just a one day summer feels for me, I have to enjoy and leave all my stress behind. Our first plan for our mini vacation is to go to Laguna but the reception cannot accommodate us for reservation. Next is in Anilao, Batangas but it's too far and it's only for one day. We chose Bulacan since it was recommended for us. We arrived there at 9 am (April 9). Before we arrived there I have expectations at the place, the pool area and there cottages but I'm glad they have met my expectations.

Welcome to Pug Pog Resort in Pulilan, Bulacan. The resort's name sounds funny (obviously it's not some classy name for a resort) then paid for the entrance fee. Here it is! We're finally here. Th striking heat of the sun plus swimming that time? No waaay! I don't want tan lines but no choice. My little cousins was nagging me to accompany them for swimming hence I accompany them at the kiddie pool. They have 3 swimming pools, one for the adult and 2 are for kids. Before that, we tried to look for better cottage inside and we found one behind the pool area good thing about that is you can park your car beside your cottage. Unlike for other resorts, you have to look for parking area. One of the safekeeping elements of a service that they offer. I also noticed about their safekeeping is that they lack life guards in the swimming pool area it's the important thing the management must be aware of. Afterwards, We took some pictures, swimming at its finest, enjoyed and everything!

We packed our things around 3pm then left the place at 4 pm. While my dad was driving, we stopped by at the house of my dad's friend. I was amazed with the beautiful fine scenery at their place. I tried to breathe some fresh air. I was wondering whether to take vacation again in Bohol. Free from noise, pollution, people and everything . I am too suffocated in my urban life and just want live in my province "probinsiya feels". Being in the urban city for all my life, I feel the need of basic life again but I wonder if I can stay that long in the province. Some contemplations along the way.

We arrived home 8 pm because of undying traffic at NLEX the usual. Feel so tired but really enjoyed and got to unwind myself from school. It's a good thing that you try to detour yourself and wonder at other things.

Ang Favorite Book Ni Jude by Teatro Tomasino

Did you ever experienced being left alone in the world? It's like you don't know what and where you are heading off in your life?

Last April 20 (Wednesday) we were asked by our prof to watch a play from Teatro Tomasino entitled " Ang Favorite Book Ni Jude" it's from Bob Ong's. At first impression, I was clueless what is the play all about and how would it be presented. Is that something tragedy or tragic comedy? Your curiosity would get into your mind because of the title itself.

The play starts at 10 am so we decided to go to Educ Bldg earlier than the said time so we could get a good seat while watching the play. We started to form a queue at the entrance ticket as we reached the place we found out that they haven't prepared yet with the pictures, the preparation of the table. It's almost 10 am and students are already coming in to the place. We asked if what time are they going to let students enter the place, the kuya told us that they will start getting tickets by 9:45 then we waited. They've let us entered the place pass 10 am already.

At first scene of the play, the actors and actresses were stuttering in delivery of their lines. They are quite nervous and I guess they are not comfortable yet but the play was presented smoothly. Based on how I understood the play, it is a story of Jude's family recovering from a tragedy of typhoon wherein he lost all her kids and Marco was the only survivor after the typhoon. After which, Jude lost his connection with God that turns out that he doesn't have any idea where he was leading. He's trying to understand what is his purpose and he started doubting God's existence. There is this part wherein he is trying to question God if there is really God? He killed himself (suicide) that made the story let him see all his wrongdoings when he was in Earth. The story is all about man's quest as he journey his life  about morality, humanity and faith with God. Jude was sent back to Earth by God as another being. He was sent to give him another chance fulfill his mission. This is just to summarize the story of "Ang Favorite Book Ni Jude"

(pictures are just sneak peek from the play since we weren't allowed to take pictures of the entire play)

I would like commend their actors and actresses for portraying well their characters in the play. It is also a form of service by Teatro Tomasino informing all Thomasian about our faith to God no matter what obstacles we might face through in life. The play is also telling that we should never question God's existence and believe in his promise of eternal life.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog for today.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!
